# Boston Scientific Cyberattack September 8 Update

Boston Scientific has substantially restored its distribution network following the Aug. 25 cyberattack, though the incident is expected to materially affect its third-quarter and full-year 2026 results.

September 8 update: Boston Scientific said it has substantially restored operations following the Aug. 25 cybersecurity incident, “with major distribution centers now processing and shipping customer orders at or above normal operating levels.” The company said its sterilization facilities are “now operational and manufacturing has resumed across most facilities globally,” although the timeline for a full operational recovery remains uncertain.

Boston Scientific said the network disruption affecting cardiac-device remote monitoring activations “has been resolved and activation capability has been restored.” Activations for cardiac device implant communicators and insertable cardiac monitor remote monitoring may now resume. The company said healthcare professionals can proceed with cardiac device activation and pairing and provided instructions for activations initiated since Aug. 25 (see below). The disruption did not affect implantable-device function or monitoring capabilities for devices already enrolled in remote monitoring before the incident.

The cybersecurity incident is likely to have a “material impact” on the company’s third-quarter and full-year 2026 financial results, according to a Sept. 8 Form 8-K. Boston Scientific said it is now unlikely to meet the net sales growth and adjusted earnings-per-share guidance ranges it previously issued in July for the third quarter and full year.

Boston Scientific expects to recover some of the affected revenue as global operations continue to ramp up and customer-order backlogs are reduced, but said “the full impacts are not yet known.” The company does not anticipate the incident will have a material effect on its long-term financial position.

Boston Scientific said its investigation remains ongoing and that, as of Sept. 8, it had not identified evidence of ongoing unauthorized access to its systems.
