# Saudi Airports Damaged by Houthi Strikes; G7 Coordinates Emergency Oil Release; India Pharma Faces Rising API Prices and Supply Constraints

Houthi strikes on airports in Jazan and Najran are escalating security risks in southern Saudi Arabia as G7 countries release emergency fuel stocks and Indian drugmakers face rising API prices and tighter supply.

**Houthi attacks struck airports in Jazan and Najran in southern Saudi Arabia,** injuring three people and causing property damage, according to Saudi Arabia’s Civil Aviation Authority. The strikes came after Saudi Arabia and its allies launched a counteroffensive to retake Red Sea territory from the Houthis, whose position near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait allows them to threaten Saudi oil shipments. The Houthis also warned international airlines to avoid most Saudi airspace. **G7 countries agreed to release 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil from emergency reserves.** The coordinated release will begin immediately and continue for four months, with a substantial volume of diesel expected within 20 days. G7 members also pledged to refrain from energy product export bans. It’s unclear whether some of the oil in the new announcement may include volumes from its record first 400 million barrel release in March that hadn’t hit the market yet. **Pharmaceutical manufacturers in Gujarat India are facing renewed supply pressure and sharp price increases for widely used APIs** including paracetamol, metformin and several cardiovascular and gastrointestinal drugs. API prices have risen about 20–40% over the past month as higher China-to-India freight costs, tighter shipping capacity and rising solvent and raw-material prices increase production costs and disrupt deliveries. The pressure is particularly significant for low-margin generic manufacturers, which have limited ability to absorb higher logistics and petrochemical-linked input costs.
