# Trump Announces MFN Deals For Nine Pharmaceutical Manufacturers

 September 2, 2026

Nine new pharmaceutical manufacturers entered MFN pricing agreements with the U.S. government.

The Trump administration announced Most-Favored-Nation (MFN) pricing agreements on Aug. 31 with nine additional pharmaceutical manufacturers, including Alcon, Astellas Pharma, BeOne Medicines, BridgeBio, CSL, Kyowa Kirin, Sun Pharma, Teva Pharmaceuticals and UCB. The agreements bring the total number of participating manufacturers to 26, covering 89% of the U.S. branded drug market, according to the White House.

Under the agreements, state Medicaid programs will receive MFN pricing on drugs made by the nine companies, while new medicines they bring to market will also be subject to MFN pricing. The agreements “reduce prices on drugs that treat numerous costly, chronic, and even rare diseases, including hemophilia, Parkinson’s disease, macular degeneration, glaucoma, liver disease, skin conditions, and various forms of cancer,” the White House said.

The manufacturers also collectively committed at least $19.6 billion to U.S. manufacturing in the near term. Several companies agreed to contribute active pharmaceutical ingredients for key medicines to the Strategic Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients Reserve (SAPIR). The White House said the contributions are intended to reduce U.S. reliance on foreign sources and help ensure an adequate supply of those medicines during emergencies.

The nine manufacturers qualify for a 0% Section 232 pharmaceutical tariff rate based on their combination of MFN pricing agreements and U.S. onshoring commitments, per the administration’s pharmaceutical tariff framework.

BeOne Medicines said it entered into an onshoring agreement with the U.S. government, “securing an exemption from Section 232 pharmaceutical tariffs.” ([BeOne Medicines](https://ir.beonemedicines.com/news/beone-medicines-announces-voluntary-agreement-with-us-government-to-expand-access-to-innovative-cancer-medicines/52be74b5-b198-42d1-8bd0-225480e3986a) press release)

UCB said its agreement means the company “will not be subject to Section 232 Pharmaceutical tariffs on all current products or future pricing mandates.” ([UCB](https://www.ucb.com/newsroom/press-releases/article/ucb-comes-to-agreement-with-us-government-to-lower-the-cost-of-medicine-and-strengthen-us-manufacturing) press release)

Kyowa Kirin said it “reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce to defer Section 232 tariffs.” ([Kyowa Kirin](https://ir.kyowakirin.com/en/news/news8657937012114191980/main/0/link/e20260901_01.pdf) press release)

Sun Pharma said the agreement “recognizes Sun Pharma’s investment in the U.S. market by delaying Section 232 tariffs on innovative pharmaceutical products for over two years.” ([Sun Pharma](https://sunpharma.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Press-Release-White-House.pdf) press release)

CSL said “the agreements provide CSL with additional certainty regarding its exposure to U.S. drug pricing and certain Section 232 tariffs.” The company added it does not anticipate any material impact during fiscal year 2027. BridgeBio said it “does not expect to be subject to future pricing mandates” and that its pricing commitment for future medicines is expected to exclude medicines approved solely for orphan indications.
